0 Snow Ice Cream Recipe

In honor of the amazingly gorgeous snow outside, I'm posting my recipe (or altered version of a recipe I found online) for Snow Ice Cream! You don't have to mess with rock salt and plastic bags because you use snow, so it's much easier than other ice cream making endeavors! The boyfriend and I made it Sunday night when the first snow fell and we were able to set a big bowl outside to catch the fresh snow... it takes some trial and error, but it was pretty good!

The original ice cream recipe can be found here on AllRecipes.com. But here's what we ended up with...

Snow Ice Cream

Ingredients
  • 1.5 gallons of fresh, clean snow
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2.5 cups milk

Directions
  1. Mix your fresh snow with the sugar and vanilla extract. It doesn't exactly mix all that well together, but it will...
  2. Add in the 2.5 cups of milk. The original recipe tells you to add milk until you get the desired consistency... at first, we added just the two cups, but we ended up needing a lot more to mix up that much snow.
  3. Serve immediately! (The reason there are no photos of the steps in between is because it started to melt so quickly there was no time to pause!)
This recipe calls for more snow because we tried out the ice cream with just the gallon of snow and it was pretty grainy... just not quite good (but not awful), so we added a bunch more snow and were much more satisfied, thus the larger quantities. Good luck and enjoy!
