I've been debating buying a bunch of corks on eBay because I just really like them... but because I'm terrified of ending up on "Hoarders," I wanted to make sure I could use them all for crafty projects. In general, I tend to only let myself get a new crafty supply if I think I can use it for several projects (that I already know about... not that I could find if I tried hard enough), so I'm thinking this could become a new series for the blog just because I already tend to do this in my head at least a little bit, so why not round up some great ideas and publish them here?!
So, here are some of my favorite ideas for using wine corks!
wine cork pens tutorial from paper, plate, and plane
wine cork trivet tutorial from Craftbits
wine cork boats (this is SOOOOO cute!) tutorial from Jonah Lisa Land
another wine cork trivet tutorial from Crafty Nest
a wine cork bathmat tutorial from Crafty Nest (and here you can read about the creator's dilemma about whether or not to varnish or seal her cork mat.... currently she says don't do it unless your bathroom floor tends to get soaking wet every time you shower!)
wine cork wreath tutorial from Lolly Chops
a tutorial for using corks and fun foam to make stamps at Craft Ideas
Dollar Store Crafts has this tutorial for turning champagne corks into drawer pulls!
wine cork trivets and coasters tutorial from Design*Sponge
wine cork trivet tutorial (that might be able to help you make a bulletin board/cork board of corks!) from Crafters Love Crafts
Peter Beardsley posted a tutorial on Flickr for how he made this wine cork cork board
cork monograms tutorial from The Elephant's Trunk
wine cork candle holders tutorial from two twenty one
wine cork board tutorial from Adventures in Creating
cork boards tutorial featured at Young House Love
wine cork plant markers from My Chic Life
carved wine cork stamps from Lil Blue Boo
These are less tutorials and more just inspiring ideas that I loved too much to ignore!
wine cork place cards at a wedding from Style Me Pretty
wine cork wine tags from aileenrae on her Etsy shop
a wine cork tree ornament from 4EyesandEars at her Etsy shop!
this isn't so much a tutorial as much as something cool that life.love.larson found at her Anthropologie store... corks as wall art!
If none of those ideas inspire you, there are a few more here at Crafting a Green World and tons of awesome ideas from design finch!

Those are some amazing ideas - I say go for it! :) I'll definitely start saving up for you too!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is awesome and just in time for me to start yet another project ;) This is a really good idea for a series - it'll help me justify all my 'supplies' hanging around! Keep up the good work tracking down these ideas.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea for the series. I have an idea for Scrabble tiles, but I'm afraid to share it for fear that someone will steal it. I'm ridiculously paranoid. Haha.
ReplyDeleteI think that cork bath mat seems like a perfect winter craft. Hence the pinning and then repinning (wanted to link to original source too after all of our Pinterest talks).
Oooooh! The monograms are so elegant. Time to start drinking lots more wine... :D
ReplyDeleteI like the pens, too. But the boyfriend says they would probably be difficult to hold. What do you think?
