Updated Blog Design

I decided that 2012 should mean a new blog design for me... so I've been working on that and you might see a few new things already. I'm not quite sure how much of a make-over I want to give the blog, but I did want to just add a few more "science-y" touches and update the design and freshen it up! But for now, you'll notice a new header (there's a little preview at the top of this post!) and the buttons for all of the categories (e.g., the crafty tutorials, supply-related roundups, free printables, etc.) are all updated on the sidebar and in the blog tour.

One other thing I've been wondering about is whether I should truncate posts. Basically, should more posts appear on the main page and then you can easily navigate to a post and click on something like "Read More" to get the full post (Be Different... Act Normal is one blog that does this) OR is it better to leave the blog as it is... do you guys have any thoughts?

And any thoughts on the new design? Anything I can do to make the blog better, easier to navigate, prettier...?

  2. I am not a fan of truncated posts, but what I really really don't love is when you can't read the whole post in a feed. I would still come and read your posts, but for many other people I have stopped reading/visiting/commenting on their blog if I only get the first paragraph of their post in my feeder.

I love your blog design. I know I've told you that before. I think the background and all the matching colors is what I'm drawn to. Love your new header.

  3. I'm loving the changes! If it is one of my favorites, like yours, I don't mind the truncated posts but for most people I'm not a huge fan.

  4. I do not like truncated posts and will usually just pass over them rather than search and go back and forth. Just my dislike but I do like the layout of your blog now.

  5. This is my first visit, but may I weigh in on the truncated posts question? My answer is, "Blechhh! I do not care for truncated posts!" Thank you for asking. Now, let's see what else is here on this blog...

And, I especially love the buttons and baubles spilling from the graduated cylinder :)

  9. It is great to be able to personalize the blog..love the FB, Twitter, etc. icons on the right. Do not like truncated posts as it gives the reader one more thing to have to click on.

I LOVE comments! It's so much fun to hear your thoughts and ideas... so thanks for taking time to leave one!

I like to respond to comments, but can't if you are a "noreply-comment@blogger.com." You can easily fix this though - find tutorial here.
