The Scientist

I live in the Maryland/DC area with my fiance and our two incredibly adorable puppies (that's Max on the left and Bella on the right, below). If you've been reading the blog for awhile, you know that I started this thing when I was teaching and finishing up my Ph.D. in South Carolina. We moved up north in the summer of 2012 for a whole other adventure...

I "re-discovered" my creativity and passion for crafting during grad school when I was sending fun packages and letters to my friend who was serving the U.S. Army in Afghanistan (she's back in the U.S. now, safe and sound) and then it just blossomed from there!

Now the blog is an awesome way to keep my Type A personality occupied and entertained and unwind after a long day AND be able to share my ideas and connect with other crafty bloggers!

My favorite projects include often involve some combination of washi tape, paint chips, free printables, notebooks or composition books, envelope art, magnets, wreaths, paper, bottle caps, organization, paint, no sew fabric stuff, and/or jewelry.

My other loves include laughing, science, sports (football and baseball in particular - I'm a long-time Braves, Cowboys, and Brett Favre fan), edamame in the pod and boiled peanuts, beer, Douglas Coupland, and semi-trashy legal/forensic thriller books and TV.
So take a look around and see what you like... I'd be very flattered if you want to feature me or any of my work - just leave a link back somewhere so I can see it! And feel free to email me at craftingscientist@gmail.com.
